Bedok HDB assisted-living flats will be launched in December

The project will provide seniors with easy access nearby to social and community facilities, such as a restaurant and a network centre for residents.

The applicant, along with their spouse, must have at least 65-years of age. They can select a lease between 15 and 35 years.

The exhibition, which is open to the public from Mondays through Fridays between 8 am and 5 pm (excluding public holidays and weekends), features 3D models for the assisted-living building and the flat, as well a mockup of the communal area and a showroom for the flat. Visitors can learn more about service packages and eligibility criteria.

These flats feature an open floor plan where the space can be divided and customized with sliding partitions. There is also a built in wardrobe, cabinets, as well as a completed kitchen. This allows seniors to move into their new home quickly and with minimal renovations.

The residents will be required to subscribe to the basic service package which includes services like 24-hour emergency monitoring, basic health checks and daycare. Additional services include laundry, meal service and daycare.

Under the basic package of services, residents can access care, wellness, and social activities. If necessary, they can also benefit from facilitated admission into a nearby nursing facility.

The waiting time for apartments ranges from three years three months to three year and seven months.

Each assisted-living flat is about 32 square metres, and will be equipped with senior-friendly fittings, such as grab bars, wheelchair-accessible bathrooms with slip-resistant flooring, and wide wheelchair-friendly main doors.

Jden Pricing

The unit’s total cost is comprised of both the flat-rate price and the basic package. While the flat rate must be paid in full upfront, residents can choose between two payment plans for the basic service packages. They may pay S$175-S$185 each month and pay an upfront one year security deposit or S$6,300-S$7,000 every 3 years.

The sale of 250 community care apartments at Bedok in December will help Singaporean seniors age in their own homes.

The third community care apartment project is a senior-friendly housing development that integrates on-site social services and care activities. Two of these projects were launched at Bukit Batok, in 2021, and Queensway, in 2022.

If this model is deemed to be scalable and effective, we plan to increase the number of community care apartment and to launch as many as 30 apartments at different locations in Singapore by the year 2030.

The 250 assisted living flats are a part of the 1,234 apartments at Chai-Chee Green Build-To Order (BTO) Project. The project offers three-rooms, four-rooms and five-rooms flats to “encourage intergenerational bonding as well as foster inclusion and community interaction”.
